Anthropic has publicly filed its S-1 registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission, opening a detailed window into the AI lab's finances ahead of a planned initial public offering, according to Yahoo Finance and CNBC. The filing shows a company with rapidly expanding revenue alongside losses and compute-spending commitments measured in the tens of billions of dollars.

Revenue and Losses Disclosed in the Filing

According to Yahoo Finance, the company, which it reported will trade under the ticker symbol ANT, generated $16.3 billion in revenue in the six-month period that ended in June. CNBC's review of the prospectus found that consumption-based revenue made up $13.1 billion, or 80% of total revenue, for the six months ended June 30, 2026, while subscription-based revenue totaled $3.2 billion, or 20% of the total, over the same period.

The losses disclosed are substantial. CNBC reported that Anthropic lost $80.7 billion in the first six months of 2026, compared with a $12.9 billion loss over the same stretch in 2025. For all of 2025, the company lost about $41.9 billion, widening from an $8.3 billion loss in 2024, per CNBC's reporting.

Yahoo Finance also reported that the company spent $9 billion on AI infrastructure in the first six months of the year, ahead of the $7.3 billion it spent throughout all of 2025. By our calculation, that six-month figure exceeds the full-year 2025 total by $1.7 billion (9 minus 7.3), or 23.3% more than the entire prior year's spending (1.7 divided by 7.3, multiplied by 100) — an arithmetic comparison of two differently sized periods, not a growth rate.

Customer Concentration and Compute Dependencies

Anthropic's enterprise customer base has grown substantially. CNBC reported that as of Sept. 30, the company's enterprise base included more than 11,900 customers generating $100,000 or more in trailing-twelve-month revenue, more than 1,900 customers generating $1 million or more, and roughly 250 customers generating $10 million or more on the same basis.

On concentration risk, CNBC cited the prospectus directly: "No single customer represented more than 10% of our revenue for the nine months ended September 30, 2026." CNBC also reported that five customers accounted for about a quarter of Anthropic's revenue for the first nine months of 2026, and that revenue from customers who buy through cloud marketplaces represented 48% of revenue at the end of 2025. Separately, Yahoo Finance reported that roughly one-fifth of Anthropic's revenue came from two customers, with the remainder coming from a small handful of clients, a characterization that differs somewhat in framing from CNBC's figures though both outlets point to meaningful customer concentration.

On the supply side, CNBC reported that Anthropic counts on Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Broadcom for computing power in relationships the company itself described as creating "dependencies and potential vulnerabilities." The filing also named Amazon, Google and Microsoft as competitors, stating, according to CNBC, that "Amazon, Google, and Microsoft each offer AI services and develop and deploy competing AI models through their respective cloud platforms."

The prospectus also flagged geographic risk tied to chip manufacturing, warning, per CNBC, that "any restrictions or delays on the supply of advanced chips out of Taiwan or TSMC would adversely affect our business, financial condition, and results of operations." Separately, CNBC reported that Anthropic wrote that U.S. data-center construction moratoriums "could delay or prevent the construction or expansion of facilities on which we depend for compute."

Massive Compute Spending Commitments

The filing detailed large, multiyear compute agreements. CNBC reported that Anthropic will pay SpaceX around $3.1 billion per month to access compute powered by Nvidia GPUs once all promised capacity is delivered, with the company having agreed to spend up to $120.5 billion over a period extending into 2029. SpaceX's own third-quarter financial filing, cited by CNBC, said a customer identified as Anthropic paid the company just over $5 billion, or 34.5% of SpaceX's total $14.58 billion in revenue for the quarter.

CNBC also reported that Anthropic and Microsoft modified a November 2025 agreement so that Anthropic now intends to spend at least $44.9 billion with Microsoft between November 2026 and May 2033. The original November 2025 deal included $30 billion on Azure and contracting for as much as a gigawatt of additional computing power, per CNBC.

Separately, CNBC reported that Anthropic was sitting on $6.2 billion in debt at the end of June, a relatively small figure set against its nearly $81 billion in losses during the first half of the year. That debt reflects the principal amount outstanding under convertible notes Anthropic issued to Amazon starting in 2023, according to the prospectus as reported by CNBC.

Underwriters and Valuation Expectations

CNBC reported that Goldman Sachs holds the "lead left" underwriter position, with Morgan Stanley listed second. Other banks participating in the offering, per CNBC, include JPMorgan, Citigroup, Barclays, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, RBC Capital Markets, UBS Investment Bank, BMO Capital Markets, BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole CIB, Jefferies, Mizuho, MUFG, Societe Generale, TD Securities, BTIG, Cantor, Capital One Securities and Macquarie Capital.

On valuation, CNBC cited MIT Sloan professor Sinan Aral, who estimated the IPO could value Anthropic in a $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion range. Aral characterized that range as implying a 22-to-30-times revenue multiple, telling CNBC, "the future growth and the profit of this company are being priced in that kind of valuation." This is an outside analyst's estimate rather than a figure disclosed by Anthropic itself, and the filing passages reviewed did not include a specific IPO price range or listing date. Yahoo Finance noted that Anthropic's public debut is expected to rival or surpass SpaceX's record-setting IPO in June, though that remains an expectation rather than a confirmed outcome.

U.S. stocks rose on the day the filing became public. Yahoo Finance reported the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.4%, the S&P 500 added 0.8%, and the Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.1%, a move that followed two straight weeks of losses for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq. Yahoo Finance's reporting characterized the filing as one factor investors were weighing alongside a busy week of tech earnings.

Bottom Line

Anthropic's S-1 shows a company scaling revenue quickly while absorbing losses and compute-spending commitments on a similarly large scale, with heavy reliance on a handful of cloud and chip partners that are themselves named as competitors in parts of its business. Valuation and pricing details remain estimates from outside analysts rather than confirmed terms, and the timing of an actual listing has not been disclosed in the filing passages reviewed here.
