CrowdStrike has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Dreadnode, an artificial intelligence security testing company, the cybersecurity firm announced at its Fal.Con Europe 2026 conference in Barcelona. Dreadnode confirmed the agreement in its own post, noting the announcement came during a keynote by CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz and executive Bartley Richardson, according to Dreadnode's statement.
The deal was unveiled alongside a separate agreement to acquire Fiddler AI, another AI-focused security company, as part of a broader push by CrowdStrike into securing enterprise AI systems, per CyberScoop's reporting.
Deal Value: What's Disclosed and What's Reported
CrowdStrike did not disclose the purchase price for either acquisition. CyberScoop reported that a Wall Street Journal report listed the price for Dreadnode at $95 million and the price for Fiddler at $400 million. SecurityWeek characterized the combined reported figure for both deals as $495 million, consistent with the two reported figures ($400 million + $95 million = $495 million). These numbers rest on the Journal's reporting as relayed by CyberScoop rather than on any CrowdStrike filing or statement, so readers should treat them as reported rather than confirmed.
CrowdStrike says Dreadnode is expected to become generally available on the Falcon platform in the fourth quarter of CrowdStrike's fiscal year 2027. CyberScoop similarly reported that both newly announced products are expected to be generally available in CrowdStrike's fourth quarter of fiscal 2027.
What Dreadnode's Technology Does
According to CrowdStrike, Dreadnode's platform tests AI models, applications, and agents using more than 50 attack techniques, including jailbreaks, prompt injection, and multi-turn or agent-specific attacks, run against systems before they reach production. The company ranks findings by severity and maps them to established frameworks, including the OWASP Top 10 for LLMs, OWASP Agentic Security categories, MITRE ATLAS, and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, producing an exportable risk report intended to support go/no-go deployment decisions.
CrowdStrike states that Dreadnode's testing results will feed into Falcon Guardian, the company's AI detection and response product, as policy recommendations, so that a weakness identified during pre-deployment testing can directly inform runtime protection. The company also says Dreadnode testing data will strengthen its SafeMind models, which CrowdStrike describes as part of its broader AI security research.
Context: The Kill Switch and Falcon Guardian
The Dreadnode announcement arrived alongside new capabilities for Falcon Guardian, including what CrowdStrike calls an "AI Kill Switch." In its product announcement, CrowdStrike said the feature terminates unauthorized agents in real time — first at the gateway, and soon on the endpoint — and blocks them from running again across the organization. CyberScoop reported that Kurtz introduced the control as a way for humans to stop any AI agent, and quoted him writing on X that the switch "lives outside the model, at runtime, where an agent can't argue with it, rewrite it, or wait it out." Kurtz framed the move as a shift from security to safety, writing that "for decades, security meant keeping the adversary out," while "safety is the bigger opportunity: letting AI run at full speed, inside the business, with a human in control," according to CyberScoop.
CrowdStrike positioned the deal as an extension of earlier AI-security moves, noting in its blog post that it acquired Pangea last year to secure enterprise AI use and development and announced Falcon Guardian last month to deliver runtime protection for AI agents. Dreadnode said that once the deal closes, its team will join CrowdStrike's Cyber Superintelligence Lab, and Dreadnode CEO Brad Palm told CyberScoop the company was built on the idea that "the people best equipped to find those failures think like attackers." Interpreting the two companies' stated rationale: both frame pre-deployment testing as the missing step in enterprise AI rollouts, with Dreadnode saying most enterprises it speaks with are being pushed to put agents into production without a way to test them first, and CrowdStrike arguing that an agent shipped with a jailbreak or manipulation weakness gives adversaries a path to the sensitive systems and data that agent can reach.
Bottom line: CrowdStrike has confirmed a signed definitive agreement for Dreadnode, announced alongside a separate agreement for Fiddler AI, with Dreadnode slated for general availability on Falcon in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2027. The $95 million and $400 million price tags come from Wall Street Journal reporting relayed by other outlets rather than from CrowdStrike, and CrowdStrike's own blog post cautions that its statements about the deal are forward-looking and subject to risks including satisfaction of closing conditions and its ability to integrate Dreadnode.
