Meta used its Connect conference in Menlo Park on Wednesday to introduce three new hardware products tied to its Muse AI agent: a slimmer VR headset called Meta VR Glasses priced at $1,299.99 and shipping in spring 2027, a new Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses line, and a still-unpriced pendant called Muse Charm that Mark Zuckerberg said Meta is planning to ship "in time for the holidays in December," according to CNBC and Meta's own announcements.

Meta VR Glasses: lighter headset, narrower field of view, higher price

Meta VR Glasses represent the company's first new VR hardware since the $299 Quest 3S launched in 2024, per CNBC. The device will go on sale in spring 2027 for $1,299.99, according to Meta's official announcement.

Meta describes the optics as a "5K Infinite Display" built on micro-OLED panels at 37 pixels per degree with pancake lenses, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio built into the frames. UploadVR reports the panels are dual 120Hz 2412x2288 HDR micro-OLED displays, which it says is the highest resolution of any Meta headset to date and the company's first non-LCD headset since the original Oculus Quest.

The tradeoff for the slimmer, roughly 100-gram form factor is field of view. UploadVR reports Meta advertises 70 degrees horizontal by 66 degrees vertical, equating to roughly 87 degrees diagonal, compared with about 110 degrees by 96 degrees on Quest 3.

Compute is offloaded to a tethered puck running Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Reality Elite processor, with 12GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and a microSD slot for expansion, according to Meta and UploadVR. The puck battery supports up to three hours of continuous high-resolution media playback and 45W fast charging, Meta said. Controllers are not included by default; buyers can purchase Touch Plus controllers separately, pair existing Quest 3 or Quest 3S controllers, or seek out a bundle available "in some retail channels," UploadVR reports.

Zuckerberg framed the device as a new category rather than an iteration: "We have built a new kind of VR device that delivers the same magical feeling of presence and immersion, high-resolution displays and views of the world around you in a form factor that is a pair of glasses for the first time," he said, according to CNBC.

Ray-Ban Meta Audio and a broader glasses lineup

Alongside the headset, Meta introduced Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses and said it will offer more than 100 glasses options across Ray-Ban, Oakley and Meta Glasses by the end of the year through its EssilorLuxottica partnership, per Meta's announcement. The company also launched a new Meta Adventurer model with a plug-in case starting at $249, which Meta called "our most accessible price yet"; it is available for preorder now and goes on sale October 23 in all countries where Meta Glasses are sold, Meta said.

Muse Charm: a pendant with no price yet

Zuckerberg teased a translucent 'elevated hacker aesthetic' for the unpriced Muse Charm, targeted for a December launch, per The Verge.

The most speculative product of the night was Muse Charm, a small handheld device for talking to Meta's Muse AI agent without unlocking a phone or opening an app, according to CNBC. Zuckerberg did not disclose pricing and said Meta still needs to "finalize laying out the components," adding the company is "planning to have this ready to ship in time for the holidays in December." The Verge reported Zuckerberg said Meta has "only built a few of these so far."

The Verge described the device as looking "almost like a chunky smartwatch without the strap," with a lanyard, a fingerprint sensor on the top right corner to activate it, an apparent small camera, and at least three visible microphone holes. Zuckerberg teased a translucent design he called an "elevated hacker aesthetic" and promised more details later. The Verge drew a comparison to the Rabbit R1, calling it "a similarly sized cutesy device that housed an AI agent, which was not nearly capable enough to make the product worth carrying around."

Muse's expanding footprint and monetization plan

Muse, which launched in early September and runs on Meta's multimodal Muse Spark model, was the keynote's centerpiece. TechCrunch reported new capabilities including a real-time video-chat avatar powered by a Muse Realtime Avatar model, computer use on Macs, its own email address, and a glasses integration activated by a wake word, due "in the coming months."

On the business model, Zuckerberg offered a single detail: "We're standing behind this by making Muse free for a huge number of tokens, with the expectation that over time we will profit by taking a small fee from transactions," TechCrunch reported. No subscription tier for Muse was announced.

Meta also named a lengthy roster of commerce partners for Muse, including Stripe, Shopify's Shop Pay, PayPal, Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Walmart, Wayfair and Expedia, with Instacart coming soon, plus developer connectors for GitHub, Granola and Notion. TechCrunch reported the company received more than 1,500 developer connector applications in under a week.

Market reaction: JPMorgan lifts target, travel stocks slide

JPMorgan raised its Meta price target to $920 from $820 on Sept. 24, 2026, implying 24% upside from Wednesday's close, per CNBC.

JPMorgan raised its Meta price target to $920 from $820 on Thursday while maintaining an overweight rating, according to CNBC. By our calculation, the $100 increase (920 minus 820) works out to a roughly 12.2% rise in the target itself, and JPMorgan said the new target implies 24% upside from Wednesday's close. Analyst Doug Anmuth wrote that "Meta continues to move towards superintelligence with Muse off to a strong start—quickly iterating, improving, and expanding—with the potential to bring an extremely capable personal agent to billions of users," per CNBC.

Online travel stocks moved sharply the other direction. 24/7 Wall St. reported Airbnb fell 7.56% to $149.58, Booking Holdings shed 5.07% and Expedia dropped 7.72%, all without company-specific news, while Meta shares rose. None of the three travel companies issued statements, according to the outlet. The moves suggest investors are weighing the possibility that an agentic assistant like Muse, which already lists Expedia among its commerce partners, could reduce reliance on booking intermediaries, though no company has confirmed such an outcome and this remains a market interpretation rather than a stated plan.

Supply chain notes

Reporting on Meta's display supply chain predates this week's announcement: The Elec reported in late August that China's SeeYA had begun mass production of OLEDoS panels for Meta, with shipments reaching 1 million units, though that report did not specifically confirm the panels are destined for the new VR Glasses.

Bottom Line

Meta laid out a hardware roadmap spanning several price points and launch windows: the new Ray-Ban Meta Audio line and the $249 Meta Adventurer, which Meta said goes on sale October 23, the unpriced Muse Charm pendant targeted for December, and the $1,299.99 VR Glasses not shipping until spring 2027. JPMorgan's price-target increase and the selloff in Airbnb, Booking Holdings and Expedia suggest markets are already weighing Muse's potential reach — an interpretation of the price moves, not a stated outcome — even though Meta has disclosed only a token-based free tier and future transaction fees as Muse's monetization plan, with no subscription tier announced.
